Princess Anne Returns Home After Hospitalization for Concussion

Princess Anne has returned to her country home at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire after spending five days in the hospital for a concussion and minor head injuries.

Buckingham Palace confirmed her return following an “incident” on June 23 that led to her hospitalization. The palace’s statement mentioned that the Princess Royal had sustained minor injuries and a concussion and was kept at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precaution. She is expected to make a full recovery.

King Charles III was kept fully informed and sent his best wishes to his sister. The cause of Anne’s injuries is believed to involve a horse, as horses were present when the incident occurred. Anne, an experienced horsewoman, was the first British royal to compete in the Olympics, participating in the equestrian three-day event in 1973.

Her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, accompanied her to the hospital and assured the press that she is “fine” and recovering “slow but sure.” Princess Anne will be absent from public duties until cleared by her doctors. Buckingham Palace will not provide further updates on her health related to this incident.

In 2023, Princess Anne was noted as one of the hardest-working royals, undertaking 410 engagements.
