The door may not be fully closed on Prince Harry’s return to the royal fold, according to former royal butler Grant Harrold. Despite the significant rift between Prince Harry and his estranged relatives, Harrold believes there remains a small glimmer of hope for reconciliation.

After stepping down from royal duties and relocating to the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched several high-profile projects that revealed intimate details about life within the palace. These included their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, a six-part Netflix documentary, and Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

The disclosures from these projects have strained the relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family. Harrold, who once served King Charles, suggests that a single act could pave the way for Prince Harry to mend ties with his family.

“The only way I see this happening is a public statement from Harry, where he comes out and says that he was in a bad space and that [‘Spare’] was a mistake,” Harrold told The Post. However, he expressed doubt that such an admission would occur, given the gravity of the comments made and the deep wounds inflicted. “Some bad things were said, and some families never patch things up, and that’s how it is forevermore,” he added, noting that Harry “will regret” the things he wrote in his book.

Despite the current tensions, Harrold acknowledged Harry’s big heart and his probable wish for a different situation. He pointed out that last month, the Sussexes were advised to stop “monetizing” their links to the Windsor family if they hoped to be welcomed back. However, Harrold also indicated that while there might be a chance for Harry’s reentry into the royal fold, the relationship he and Meghan Markle once had with Prince William and Princess Kate would never be fully restored.

A public apology from Harry, Harrold claims, could be the key to healing the rift. Such a gesture could signal a genuine desire to reconcile and move forward. As Prince Harry continues to navigate his life away from the royal spotlight, the possibility of returning home, even partially, remains uncertain but not entirely out of reach.
