Xiong Jing Nan proved to be too difficult of a task for Tiffany Teo at ONE: Kings of Courage, stopping her opponent 2:17 into the fourth round.

Xiong used her sizable strength advantage to overwhelm the Singaporean through the four rounds of action. Showcasing the same punching ferocity as displayed in her ONE Championship debut fight with April Osenio, Xiong moved forward behind destructive looping punches that forced Teo to instantly respect the power of her opponent.

After a number of near-finishes through the 22 minutes of action in Jakarta, Indonesia, referee Olivier Coste stepped in to protect Teo from another relentless Xiong assault 2:17 into round four. The finishing series was Xiong’s customary route as she connected with a heavy right rook and left body kick combination before pressuring Teo with another sequence of strikes. With little energy remaining, Teo attempted a kick to the body, but Xiong answered straight back with punches of her own.

With this victory, Xiong claimed the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship in the first-ever battle for this previously vacant title. Xiong also made a clear statement to any potential challengers in 2018 – it will be extremely difficult to dethrone the new Chinese champion.

In the post-fight interview, Xiong stated:

I am happy to represent China and take a lot of pride in that. I feel great and I’m overwhelmed. This is a message to all the women across the world, you can achieve anything. This win is dedicated to my grandmother and grandfather who passed away recently.”[/perfectpullquote]
