Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once had a £2.5m home in the UK, but reports suggest they had to give it up.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly signed a two-year lease on a property in the Cotswolds shortly before their wedding in May 2018. While waiting for renovations at Frogmore Cottage, they lived in the Oxfordshire property, estimated to be worth over £2.5m. This Grade II-listed house included a main farmhouse, a two-bedroom cottage for staff and guests, and a converted barn with two kitchens. The main farmhouse had four bedrooms.
A friend mentioned the couple enjoyed their time there, walking dogs and hosting friends like George and Amal Clooney in complete solitude.
In 2020, Harry and Meghan left Frogmore Cottage and the UK after stepping down as senior royals and moving to America. Harry wrote in his memoir that Frogmore was once meant to be his “forever home” but ended up being a brief stop.
Following the release of his memoir, the Sussexes were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage permanently. A representative confirmed, “We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”
Royal biographer Tom Quinn told The Mirror that Harry was “furious and in tears” about the eviction, feeling it was a vindictive act by his father and failing to see that leaving his role as a working royal would mean losing his royal residence.
