Prince Harry reportedly declined an invitation from King Charles to stay at a royal residence during his recent UK visit due to security concerns. According to The Telegraph, Harry rejected the offer because it didn’t include taxpayer-funded personal security, leaving him exposed in a location with public access and no police protection. Instead, he opted for a hotel to move about unnoticed.

Harry remains upset about losing his automatic right to police protection and is still battling the Home Office in court. He now must give the Metropolitan Police 28 days’ notice before visiting the UK to apply for security, with each request reviewed individually.

While the specific royal residence offered by the King isn’t disclosed, St James’ Palace is a likely option. This palace, adjacent to Clarence House where the King stays in London, is heavily guarded and used by several royal family members, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Anne.

Despite Buckingham Palace’s silence on the matter, a spokesman for Harry stated that although he wanted to meet his father, the King was too busy. However, it appears the King had made efforts to see his son despite a busy schedule. Harry spent three nights in London without seeing any family before flying to Nigeria with Meghan for a quasi-royal tour.
