Fans have slammed the 88-87 spectacular contest between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever as a “fix” as the two coaches of each team were spotted having a long conversation at the conclusion of the WNBA game.
The electric contest saw Angel Reese beat Caitlin Clark after the ex-LSU Tigers ace produced an exceptional performance with 25 points and 16 rebounds as the Sky took their sixth win of the season after a devastatingly good final quarter.
Heading into the fourth, the Fever held a 72-64 lead and seemed set to extend their winning run to five games but the home side at the Wintrust Arena had different ideas as they produced a 24-point quarter and an excellent defensive display to ensure they won by a slender margin of a single, solitary point.
Made better by strong performances from two rising stars in Reese and Clark (23 points, eight rebounds, nine assists), it has been heralded as one of the greatest WNBA games in recent times and will be hard pressed to be outperformed in 2024 too.
But fans can rarely enjoy the moment and it did not take X.com, formerly Twitter, to become ablaze with conspiracy when Christie Sides and Teresa Weatherspoon were spotted in a deep conversation after the buzzer, leaving some fans wondering if the outcome was predetermined…
One user wrote, “The fix is in? It wouldn’t surprise me. There’s definitely an agenda going on.”
A second added, “i’ve never had a single conspiracy theory in my life but SOMETHING is off here.”
A third said, “Was a fix?”
Of course, it’s far from an unusual occurrence for two coaches to pay respect after a high-quality and closely fought contest and this happens across all sports in the world, so there is likely nothing to look into really.
