Angel Reese made history on Sunday night when she became the first WNBA player ever to record 13 straight double-doubles. Reese had 17 points and 14 rebounds in the Chicago Sky’s loss to the Seattle Storm, but some fans are still not impressed by her streak

Candace Parker held the record of 12 consecutive double-doubles that spanned through two seasons. Reese broke it in the third quarter with a layup, making history as a rookie. However, she downplayed her milestone in her postgame press conference.

“I’m just trying to be consistent for my teammates, doing whatever I can to help my team. I think I didn’t do enough tonight but just being able to be there for my teammates and knowing that I have a job to do no matter if I’m a rookie or a vet,” Reese said.

However, some WNBA fans are not impressed with Angel Reese’s double-double record. They prefer Caitlin Clark, who made history on Saturday as the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double. Clark had 19 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists in the Indiana Fever’s 83-78 win over the New York Liberty.

“CC still better and is the MVP,” one fan claimed.”Don’t care. Clark’s triple-double was better,” a fan wrote

“Not as impressive as 19, 12, and 13 with a W,” another fan commented.

Other fans argued that the Chicago Sky had a losing record during Angel Reese’s streak. Some even pointed out her advanced metric in the loss to the Seattle Storm.

“It’s crazy shooting 53% on layups and a -13 gets you this much media time,” a fan remarked.”Broke a record in a game where she got an L. At least CC won her game in the same game she broke her record that no other rookie has broken before,” another fan commented

“Caitlin Clark has 6 double-doubles, with 1 being a triple-double. The Fever are 4-2 in those 6 games. Angel Reese has 14 total double-doubles. The Sky are 5-9 in those 14 games. Another thing I noticed when the Sky get behind, none of the offense runs through AR,” one fan argued.

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark to be teammates at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game

Some people might not like it, but Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are likely shaping the next decade or so of the WNBA. They were college rivals and it seems to be the direction of their professional careers as well.

Reese and Clark are making history, not just with their respective teams, but by also becoming the first set of rookies to make an All-Star team since 2014. They will be teammates in the upcoming event in Phoenix as Team WNBA takes on Team USA.
