Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey gained widespread attention after a photo featuring them together went viral.

Both former college standouts recently experienced disappointment in the final stages of March Madness. Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes fell short in the women’s national championship game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, while Edey’s Purdue Boilermakers lost to Dan Hurley’s dominant UConn Huskies the following night.

Despite these setbacks, both athletes were honored as Wooden Award winners, recognizing them as the top performers in men’s and women’s college basketball this season. Choosing the recipients this year was a straightforward task.

Edey averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds a game, taking Purdue all the way to the final. Clark averaged 31.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game during the season, also becoming college basketball’s highest-ever scorer.

They took a photo in front of the award signage on Friday night, and it went viral.

While there were plenty of positive comments, many fans pointed out that both players lost in their respective title games. You can check out some of the reactions below:

Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey Are Headed To The Pros

Both Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey are turning pro this year. Clark is expected to go No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft on Monday after an amazing four years in college.

Edey is projected to be a late first-round or early second-round pick when the NBA Draft rolls around in June. So perhaps he’ll get to have a go at Draymond Green for claiming he quit on Purdue in Monday’s final.
