The Prince of Wales will make his return to royal duties nearly a month after his wife revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer.

Prince William is preparing to resume his royal responsibilities for the first time since his wife, Kate Middleton, disclosed her cancer diagnosis. William, 41, had taken a hiatus to look after their children—Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5—while they were on school break. However, he will return to his royal duties once the children go back to school.

According to an insider cited in a report from People on Tuesday, April 16, William will resume his royal duties once his children’s break concludes. During Kate’s treatment, he has stepped up to assist with caring for the children. With the children scheduled to return to school on April 17, William will resume his royal duties the following day. This marks his first involvement in royal duties since Kate’s cancer diagnosis announcement in March. The couple did not participate in Easter celebrations with other members of the Royal family at the end of March.

On Thursday, Kensington Palace announced that Prince William will commemorate the efforts of community and environmental organizations in London and Surrey. His schedule includes a visit to Surplus to Supper, a food distribution charity, followed by a trip to a West London youth center benefiting from the organization’s food deliveries.

Kate disclosed her cancer diagnosis through a video message on March 22, following abdominal surgery. She revealed, “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.” She continued, “We hope you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I’m able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”
