Rochester, N.Y. – Singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter is in town.

Best known for hits like “It Won’t Stop” and “I Like It”, Streeter is headlining Rochester’s Juneteenth Festival on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

She held a songwriting workshop for 10 local students in Rochester on Friday, to help them hone their music skills.

“If you walk away from hearing it, and you can carry something with you, like that feeling with you. Like dang, I’m not heartbroken, but that song made me feel heartbroken,” explained Streeter. “That’s how you know it’s a hit record.”

Streeter also said, sometimes it seems unpredictable when a song will be a hit, but the songwriter always knows. “We’re going to be creating new melodies, new lyrics, and new concepts now until the end of time.”
