On Tuesday, reports revealed that Caitlin Clark is set to sign an eight-year, $28 million sponsorship contract with Nike.

The deal includes a signature shoe and marks the richest single-player endorsement contract in women’s basketball history.

While Clark ultimately elected to go with Nike, several other major shoe brands were also involved in negotiations.

The No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft had additional discussions with Adidas, Puma and Under Armour.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Adidas offered Clark a four-year, $6 million deal with a signature shoe — far less money per year and a shorter duration than Nike’s offer.

Fans took to social media to blast Adidas for this “disrespectful” offer.

“Adidas is disrespectful for that offer. Puma clearly filled with idiots. She woulda made more with under armour and possibly way more if she worked with curry . I get the 8 year contract tho. Nike is elite and 8 years secures a good future. Either way, she’s makin good money,” one wrote.

“Adidas was so disrespectful… But Lols PUMA is so dumb. Steph Curry offered a good deal, but I’m guessing she wanted long term promises. As business management major, you can’t short term those,” another said.

“Adidas bid just so they could say they tried,” another added.

“Wow, what a lowball Adidas,” another wrote.
