Kate Martin described prioritizing her play on the defensive end as her focus improving as a player in the WNBA on a zoom interview Monday.

Martin described the adjustment from her small forward role on Iowa last year to guarding the league’s talented guard players such as Jewell Loyd and the need to maintain and improve her defensive effort going forward.

The second round pick saw lots of action for the Las Vegas Aces before some key players returned from injury, limiting playing time for the former Hawkeye.

Martin will face former teammate Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for the second time this season Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
