Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Ozzy Osbourne is set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time as part of its Class of 2024, as announced on Sunday night. He will be inducted alongside notable artists such as Cher, Kool & the Gang, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, the Dave Matthews Band, and A Tribe Called Quest in the performer category. The induction ceremony is scheduled for October 19 during the 39th annual event at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions for the Class of 2024 were announced during a special “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode of “American Idol,” hosted by Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest. This year’s inductees in the performer category include notables like Ozzy Osbourne, who is being honored for the second time after previously being inducted with Black Sabbath, as well as first-time nominees Cher, Kool & the Gang, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, the Dave Matthews Band, and A Tribe Called Quest.

Additionally, the Musical Excellence Award will be given to Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield. The Musical Influence Award recipients are Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton, while Suzanne de Passe will be honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, emphasized the diverse impact of this year’s inductees, noting their role in breaking down musical barriers and influencing subsequent generations of artists.

The selection process saw fifteen acts nominated, but not all made the final cut. Among those who did not get inducted this year are Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Sade, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, and the late Sinéad O’Connor.
