Nike is showing its appreciation for Caitlin Clark !
The Iowa basketball star — who became the all-time scoring leader in Division I history on Sunday — is featured on a new billboard in Times Square in New York City.
“This was never a long shot,” reads the caption underneath an image of Clark, 22, shooting one of her trademark 3-point shots.
For Clark, the billboard tributes are also in full effect in her collegiate hometown of Iowa City.
Before she broke Pete Maravich’s longstanding record on Sunday, Nike unveiled an ad on Sunday morning which displayed a giant banner honoring Clark across two buildings, separated by a downtown street.
In one banner, Clark is taking a jump shot with the ball in mid-air, and on the other banner across the street, a basketball hoop is lined up perfectly to receive the ball.
The Nike catchphrase “this was never a long shot” is also displayed underneath.
Clark signed an NIL deal with the sportswear giant in 2022.
Amid the accolades, the athlete and her team are preparing for March Madness — and Clark is also eying her future.
Last Thursday, the Hawkeyes star announced that she will be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft, scheduled for April 15 in New York City, after the NCAA Tournament.
“While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at Iowa. I am excited to be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft,” Clark began in her statement , shared to X.
She continued, “It is impossible to fully express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me during my time at Iowa — my teammates, who made the last four years the best; my coaches, trainers, and staff who always let me be me.”
“Hawkeyes fans who filled Carver every night; and everyone who came out to support us across the country, especially the young kids.”
