Some Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever Fans have expressed dissatisfaction following Head coach Christie Sides’ post game remarks about Clark’s method of playing in the women basketball league.
Some fans questioned Side’s remarks and coaching ability on social media and suggested it would eventually negatively affect how Caitlin Clark plays going forward!
On Thursday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever made their home debut at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the Atlanta Dream.
Clark got her first WNBA win with a final score of 83-80. In 32 minutes of action, she recorded 12 points on 4 of 12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Following the preseason game, Fever coach Christie Sides discussed Clark’s performance and mentioned habits that Clark has to break.
“When she (Clark) gets off the ball and she hits somebody in the high post, she has a habit of hanging out and dancing,” Sides said, “That’s what she’s done. It’s these habits we’ve got to break.”
“She’s got players around her now that she can get out, she can go screen and the ball’s going to get back to her. That’s what she hasn’t had in the past so that’s what we’ve been trying to show her and explain to her,” Sides finished.
Fans did not appreciate these comments by Sides and took to social media to call her out.
“I see what’s going on here Christie Sides you’re envious of Caitlin Clark too. Every baller has bad shooting games. You publicly shamed Caitlin’s shot before a WNBA game too. You never liked Caitlin’s deep shooting from Iowa. Lin Dunn, Sides will mess naturality and money up.”
“This will get Sides fired. Caitlin must be allowed to play her game, and that’s what is attracting all these new eyeballs to the WNBA.”
“Now everybody wants Christie Sides fired because she said CC needs to break some habits.”
