The duo of an angry Caitlin Clark and the calming Kate Martin was quite a blessing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, now that they are on opposing teams in the professional league, many might think that their bond would weaken. Contrastingly, the two have proven all these doubters wrong. The Iowa standouts are keeping up with the pace of the WNBA through each other, despite being on two different teams.
Talking about her best friend Caitlin Clark, Martin revealed how the two are still close during the Las Vegas Acesâ latest media availability. She said, âWe text and call just about every day âcause we are going through similar experiences during the training camp in a sense. Itâs your first time, first training camp, itâs not easy obviously. The transition is hard from college to the professional world here. But, yeah, Iâm just lucky that I have great friends and former teammates that are now in the league with me.â
The Las Vegas Aces recently announced that both their rookies Kate Martin and Dyaisha Fair have made it to the final opening night roster. The defending champions will be hosting Phoenix Mercury in their home tomorrow where Martin and Fair are probably going to get the taste of currents in this wave as their first regular season game.

However, Caitlin Clark is not the only former Iowa connection that Martin has a link to. In fact, one of her teammates in Las Vegas is also her former teammate and vet.
Kate Martin has an Iowa connection right in Vegas
It is always great to have someone to help you transition from one league to another. But it is even better when that veteran shares many other things with you. Kate Martin also talked about the Acesâ newest member and former Iowa standout, Megan Gustafson, during her media availability.
Talking about her former Hawkeyes teammate, Kate âMoneyâ Martin said, âItâs been unreal having Megan here. Obviously, we were teammates. Sheâs been through the league. Sheâs been through the highs, sheâs been through the lows, and sheâs come out of the other side. So, her perspective has been amazing to see.â She ended her comments by saying, âAnd itâs good to have a familiar face, obviously.â
Seemingly, Acesâ No. 20 also discusses rookie things with the 2024 EuroCup Champion. Being the experienced one, Gustafson too lends a helping hand when the rookie bounces ideas off of her or needs help with the plays or just consults her when Martin has had a rough day. Now that the two have again come together, it will be interesting to see how the duo helps Vegas in their three-peat mission.
