She is adjusting to life on the road in the WNBA.
The Chi-Town Barbie is still adjusting to life in the WNBA, which includes some problems she hasn’t had to deal with in the past. Chicago Sky forward Isabelle Harrison recorded a video exposing her new teammate Angel Reese, who was doing her best to go incognito while the team was on a commercial flight.
Chicago was flying home from its first preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx, which the Sky lost 92-81. When Harrison peeked over the aisle to check on her teammate, Reese shrunk into her hoodie, facial mask and large sunglasses.
Angel Reese isn’t used to flying commercial
As a household name from her success in college at LSU, Reese is no stranger to dodging cameras in public. However, it’s not something she’s had to do on a team flight before.
Many power conference women’s college basketball teams take charter flights for long road trips, which she got to experience at Maryland and LSU. In the WNBA, where the travel demands are higher, the players do not get the same luxury.
Challenges of travel in the WNBA
After her first humbling road trip experience as a pro, Reese shared an old post from Sky teammate Brianna Turner complaining about WNBA fans having too much access to players, specifically at the airport.
“One thing I count on is for Breezy to say the things I want to say that I can’t say,” Reese added.
The rookie finished her first preseason game one rebound shy of a double-double, putting up 13 points and nine rebounds. Her chemistry with fellow first-round draft pick Kamilla Cardoso showed green shoots as well.
