University of Iowa standout Caitlin Clark, renowned for her dominance in March Madness and rewriting basketball records, was chosen as the top pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Speaking to “Good Morning America” post-draft, Clark shared her excitement and nerves, describing the moment as a lifelong dream fulfilled since second grade.

In Indianapolis, Caitlin Clark was officially welcomed as the newest member of the Indiana Fever during a press conference at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Joined by General Manager Lin Dunn and head coach Christie Sides, Clark expressed her enthusiasm for playing in Indiana, emphasizing the state’s love and support for basketball.

Addressing aspiring athletes, Clark urged them to dream big and emphasized the importance of self-belief and hard work, instilled in her by her parents from a young age. She stressed that her success was earned through dedication and determination, a message she intends to carry into her professional career.

The Fever, already witnessing an uptick in ticket sales and planning to broadcast 36 of their 40 games this season, shared a video capturing the excitement at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as Caitlin Clark’s name was announced by Cathy Engelbert.

Clark expressed her gratitude for the enthusiasm surrounding women’s basketball in Indiana, noting the state’s fervent support for the sport. She anticipates playing in front of packed crowds and is eager to join the organization.

Regarding the transition to the professional level, Clark emphasized her readiness and excitement rather than nerves. She feels prepared both in terms of her game and maturity, having decided to leave college early because she believes she’s up for the challenge. While she anticipates some nerves upon arriving in Indianapolis, she’s confident in her preparation.
