Jon Bon Jovi’s second-born son, Jake Bongiovi, is engaged to Millie Bobby Brown
Jon Bon Jovi’s second-born son, Jake Bongiovi, is a Jersey boy just like his dad.
Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea Bongiovi welcomed their third child and second son, Jacob “Jake” Bongiovi, on May 7, 2002. Jake joined his older siblings Stephanie and Jesse, and was the youngest in the family for two years until the birth of his little brother Romeo in 2004.
Jake and his siblings largely grew up out of the public eye — an intentional decision made by their famous dad, as Bon Jovi explained to The Guardian in 2021.
“My life is much more normal than one would imagine,” the singer said. “There are no platinum records hanging anywhere in my house. The trappings of rock stardom were never a part of my home … My younger kids weren’t quite sure what I do.”
After a childhood out of the spotlight, Jake starred in the 2024 comedy Rockbottom. In the film, he played the lead singer of a 1980s hair metal band — and wore a wig very similar to his dad’s former ‘do.
Jake’s dad is also very supportive of his high-profile relationship with British actress Millie Bobby Brown, which began in 2021. After their engagement in 2023, Bon Jovi told Andy Cohen, “Millie is wonderful. Jake is very, very happy.”
Here’s everything to know about Jon Bon Jovi’s second son, Jake Bongiovi.
He grew up in New Jersey
Jesse Bongiovi, Jacob Bongiovi, Dorothea Bon Jovi, Stephanie Bongiovi, and Jon Bon Jovi attend Apollo in the Hamptons 2019: Hosted by Ronald O. Perelman at The Creeks on August 03, 2019 in East Hampton, New York.
Even though Jake was born in Palm Beach, Fla., he grew up a Jersey boy just like his dad. The family of six resided in a mansion on 15 acres alongside the Navesink River in Middleton, N.J.
According to NJ.com, Jake attended Pennington High School where he played football. Bon Jovi even attended his son’s senior night game in November 2019.
He helped lead a school walkout
During his sophomore year in 2018, Jake helped plan a walkout at his high school of 400 students in response to the Parkland, Fla. school shooting. The protest called for stricter gun control and a safer environment for students.
Jake told NJ.com that he had been involved with activism thanks to his family. He even said that Bon Jovi’s philanthropic efforts made him want to give back too.
“He’s (My dad has) really been some sort of an inspiration to me, as well, but I think it was really special that it was more the students inspiring each other,” Jake said. “Our bravery spouts from each other.”
He’s an actor
Bon Jovi told GQ in 2020 that his son was planning to attend Syracuse University to study acting. According to Syracuse.com, Jake didn’t return after his freshman year — that may have been because he had already landed some prominent acting gigs.
He made his debut in Rockbottom alongside Tom Everett Scott in 2024, and, according to NJ.com, Jake was also cast in a comedy called Sweethearts with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka.
“Jake is just bringing a level of acting that not only feels authentic and real but it feels like he’s been doing this a long time,” Rockbottom director Todd Tucker said in a promo video for the film. “And he’s only (21) years old.”
He’s engaged to Millie Bobby Brown
Rumors that Jake and Brown were dating first sparked in June 2021, when he posted a selfie with her on his Instagram and captioned it, “bff<3.” The Stranger Things actress made their relationship official on her Instagram a few months later.
After almost two years of dating, Brown announced their engagement on Instagram on April 11, 2023. She posted a black-and-white photo of her wearing a diamond ring while hugging Jake and captioned it, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.”
Just a few weeks later, Bon Jovi confirmed the big news while on Radio Andy.
He’s an avid diver
During a 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Brown shared that she and Jake bonded over diving and even got their licenses together. So it’s only fitting that he used their favorite hobby to pop the question.
The Enola Holmes actress said that on the special day Jake took her to their usual diving spot. After swimming down many meters, he handed her a shell. “I like, turn it over, and it’s a ring,” Brown said. “He puts the ring on my hand, and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie.”
Luckily, Jake was able to dive down fast enough to grab it. “It’s a reflection of who he is,” Brown continued. “And I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back and if anyone drops the ball, we got it.”
He has his dad’s blessing to get married
Bon Jovi is supportive of Jake and Brown’s relationship. During a 2023 appearance on Radio Andy, the rocker shared his advice for the engaged couple.
“I don’t know if age matters if you find the right partner and you grow together,” he said. “That would be my advice, really. Growing together is wise. I think that all of my kids have found people that they think they can grow together with, and we like them all.”
Bon Jovi again spoke about the couple’s pending nuptials during an interview with The Times U.K. in April 2024.
“I’ve gotten to know her in the last year, she works really hard, and she and Jake will grow together in their own way,” he said.
The musician continued, “It is an accelerated version of what I went through 40 years ago and I think, with the support of family around them, they’re gonna be great together.”
