Angel Reese had her 10th straight game with double figures in both points and rebounds.
Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese heads to the locker room after being ejected from a WNBA basketball gameAP
After starting the season with a 3-3 record in May, the Chicago Sky and standout forward Angel Reese faced a challenging June, finishing with a 3-8 record. Despite the team’s struggles, Reese set a new league record for the most consecutive games with a double-double in a single season. The only game in June where she missed this mark was the first of the month in a loss against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The 22-year-old forward achieved this incredible milestone in Sunday’s 70-62 loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
While Reese might prefer trading some of those double-doubles for victories, it’s clear that “Bayou Barbie” is enjoying the season and her teammates’ company. In a recent Chicago Sky social media post before their loss to the Lynx, the team was seen in high spirits, with Reese and Michaela Onyenwere leading the charge. However, the mood likely shifted after the game, as Chicago suffered two consecutive losses and held a 2-6 record in their last eight games. The Sky need to find their winning formula if they hope to turn the season around.
Angel Reese’s Record-Breaking Night
Just as Caitlin Clark has broken multiple records as a rookie, it was Angel Reese’s turn last night. Despite the 70-62 home loss, Reese secured her 10th consecutive double-double (10 points, 16 rebounds), setting a WNBA single-season record. The former LSU star also achieved double-digit rebounds in 11 consecutive games, another single-season league record, and notched her third game of the season with at least 15 boards.

While Clark obviously scores more points, the only category she leads in the league is turnovers with 5.6 per game. On the other hand, Reese leads the league in rebounds per game with 11.4, surpassing A’ja Wilson’s 11.1. Reese’s rebounding prowess, showcased since her college days, is commendable, especially given the comparisons and criticism she faces against Clark.
The Chicago Sky will play the Atlanta Dream tomorrow at 6:00 pm EST. Reese will look to continue her record streak, but she likely wouldn’t mind seeing it end if it means the team starts racking up wins instead of enduring more poor results.
