Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin has been in the news a lot recently.
Over the weekend, the former Iowa Hawkeyes icon made her WNBA debut with the Las Vegas Aces, and impressed fans after nailing a three-pointer.
She also went viral for blocking a shot from a 6’7″ opponent.
On Sunday, Martin was seen sending a heartfelt comment to former teammate Gabbie Marshall, after Marshall reflected in their time at Iowa together.
Although Martin had to deal with a less wholesome matter on Monday morning.
It appears that there have been people impersonating Martin on Facebook.
So the WNBA rookie spoke out about her impersonators with an X post.
Iowa Hawkeyes guard Kate Martin (20) reacts after the game against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the finals of the Final Four of the womens 2024 NCAA Tournament at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
“If you received any messages or comments from “me” via Facebook, it was not me,” Martin wrote. “The accounts have now been taken down. My only forms of social media are Instagram, TikTok & Twitter! Be careful of fake accounts out there! Now have a great day everyone!”
Based on someone responding to her post by saying, “So you’re not sending me 100 million dollars for clicking that link?”, it sounds like someone was trying to scam fans in Martin’s name.
Well done by Martin for addressing these concerning posts.
