WNBA rookie Kate Martin is one of the league’s most beloved players.

She was already adored by Iowa Hawkeyes fans due to the success she had alongside Caitlin Clark while there.

But now her many viral moments with her Las Vegas Aces teammates (such as chasing after the team bus after they pretended to leave her behind, wearing a pink Hello Kitty backpack before games, and receiving wholesome birthday gifts from A’ja Wilson) have endeared her among an entirely new fanbase.

Although Martin took a tough step backward (literally) during Sunday’s game against the Dallas Wings.

Iowa Hawkeyes guard Kate Martin (20) reacts after the game against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the finals of the Final Four of the womens 2024 NCAA Tournament at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Martin was guarding Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale during the first quarter of Sunday’s game.

Arike drove to the basket before pulling up at the three-point line for a shot. And Martin got her ankles broken by the savage move.

Fans are in their feelings about Martin getting subjected to this rare L.

“Ohhh arike why you got to do Kate Martin like that lol,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Putting Kate Martin on Arike is CRAZY.. She licking her chops every time”.

“putting kate martin on arike is kinda sadistic lol,” said a third.

Let’s hope Martin managed to rebound mentally from this one.
