Fans Express Concerns Over Caitlin Clark’s Mental Health Ahead of WNBA Debut
Caitlin Clark’s rise to fame has been nothing short of unprecedented. She’s one of the most popular athletes on the planet right now, and she has yet to even play in her first WNBA game.
Clark and the Indiana Fever begin the 2024 WNBA regular season on Tuesday vs. the Connecticut Sun. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. ESPN is planning a WNBA-Finals like production to cover all angles of Clark’s debut. It’s yet another sign of how Clark is impacting the WNBA.
Amid all the attention Clark is getting, fans are raising concerns about her mental health and well being. Being famous has its perks. But at just 22 years old, it’s fair to be worried about the WNBA star and whether or not she’ll be able to handle the pressure over the longterm.
In ESPN’s Full Court Press series, Clark admits that she sometimes wishes she was “normal” because all the attention and press can be draining all too often.
“There’s days when you don’t want to talk to everyone,” Clark said. “But somebody comes up to you and this is there 10-second interaction with you so you better smile and be kind.”
