Kyrie Irving displayed exceptional performance during the Dallas Mavericks’ initial semi-final matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. Nonetheless, the intensity didn’t reflect as strongly in his statistics as it did during his confrontation with a fan from OKC.
Within a few minutes into the game, when the ball went to the home court fan sitting in the front row, Mavs’ star Luka Doncic went towards the fan. Instead of handing the ball to the Slovenian guard, the fan threw it away in the other direction.
Seeing such behavior, Luka smiled, but it was unbearable for his teammate, Irving. He tossed the ball back to the fan and said, “What the f**k are you doing?” However, when the fan tried to justify himself, the 32-year-old guard snapped at him saying, “Don’t say another word to me… F**k is wrong with you man?”
The game ended badly for the Dallas franchise with a 117-95 loss. But the show’s highlight was the incident, which soon surfaced on social media, and the NBA community couldn’t stop tweeting about it.
OKC Fan Receives Warning From NBA
After snatching the headlines with his courtside antics, the OKC fan Juan Guerra II continued ranting on his social media handle X (formerly known as Twitter), where he presented his side of the story. The superfan, who shows up at all the OKC home games, faced a different experience this time.
Following his incident with Kyrie, Guerra was almost thrown out of the arena; however, the league gave him a red card warning for his actions. In a video, he explained when he got the ball, he threw it back to the game official, Tony Brothers. Then Irving gave the ball back to him and exchanged some heated words.
To this, the fan replied, “I simply told him I was giving the ball back to Taylor.” Then he added, “And he said it again and I was like, ‘it’s too early in the game to be this soft’. And that was the end of that.” Guerra got on the wrong foot of the Mavs duo, Irving and Luka, who would want to take revenge on Friday from the Thunder, where Guerra could be present, considering his past records.
