After more than a month of rest following six explosive nights in Singapore, Taylor Swift continues The Eras Tour with stops in 18 European cities. Kicking off this leg of the tour were four shows at Paris La Défense Arena (France) from May 9 to May 12. The return of the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker and her billion-dollar tour immediately caused a stir as she delighted fans with 46 hits spanning her entire music career.
Notably, seven of Taylor’s latest songs from her newly released album, The Tortured Poets Department, were added to the setlist, replacing some older tracks. Fans in France were thrilled to be the first to see their idol perform hits from the new album live, including “But Daddy I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
Forbes estimates that about 42,000 fans attended each night of Taylor Swift’s concerts in France before she takes The Eras Tour to Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Austria. It is known that a large number of fans from the US traveled to France to see the “Love Story” singer perform because ticket prices in Europe are significantly lower than those in the US, helping them save thousands of dollars.
One fan, Georg’Ann Daly, decided to celebrate her 23rd birthday by attending her idol’s show in France, despite the long journey: she took a domestic flight from Nashville to Chicago (USA), then flew to London (UK), and finally took a train to Paris (France). “I have always been obsessed with Taylor Swift,” she shared with AFP. Another fan, Noah (20), revealed that he bought tickets for all four of Taylor’s Paris shows after using 22 email addresses to secure them. Additionally, some of the singer’s most dedicated fans camped out in Paris from May 7 to ensure they wouldn’t miss this valuable opportunity.
