Travis Kelce owes his life as a tight end to smoking marijuana in college
Travis KelceLAPRESSE
Back when Travis Kelce was still at the University of Cincinnati, he wasn’t the same player he eventually became. The tight end position was still to be discovered by him and it happened in an unexpected manner. In case folks had no idea, Travis Kelce was actually a quarterback before he became a tight end. That’s the position he played when he was in Cincinnati but an event rocked his world at the time and made him reevaluate his position on the field. During one of the most recent episodes of the popular ‘Bussin’ with the Boys‘ podcast, he made this revelation that will make more than one flip out because it’s a little bit fantastical.
Travis Kelce assured Patrick Mahomes “kept him from embarrassing himself” during the Chiefs’ White HTwitter New Heights
At this point, pretty much everybody has a story about pot. It has become a normal part of American society, only the most conservative people are against it. Travis Kelce is no exception, he got through a suspension for smoking cannabis. After his suspension ended, he no longer had a place as a QB in his team. What did Travis Kelce do? This is what he said on that podcast: “What it did was it really kicked me into the tight end room. I was still playing QB then. It was like, ‘Alright, you can come walk on the team, but we don’t need a quarterback. You can just be an athlete on scout team for a year, we’ll figure it out.'”
Thank you for watching
In many ways, the Travis Kelce/Patrick Mahomes duo is very much turning out to be similar to what Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski did. Together, the Chiefs‘ stars have already won two Super Bowl rings and they are going to do everything in their power to win more. This story of players performing well at a position in high school or college and suddenly changing roles is quite common in American sports. Kelce is just the latest example that this is taking place on the regular. Amid all the success he’s met, it is safe to conclude that Travis Kelce can definitely thank smoking marijuana for the success he has today.
